News / Native chip set driver for P96
« on: January 19, 2019, 09:06:28 PM »
Thomas Richter, one of the developers behind the new AmigaOS 3.1.4, have released a Native chip set driver for P96, formerly known as Picasso96.

This program provides blitter replacement functions on systems without
a graphics card by means of corresponding CPU blitter functions of the
P96 core library. That is, it redirects the blitter functions to the
CPU, bypassing the native blitter. As such, it provides the same
functionality as FBlit, except that the blitter is emulated through
P96 - which is hopefully more robust.

No graphics card is needed, but a recent version of P96 has to be
installed as well. Configuration of the native graphic modes is still
through the workbench monitor drivers in DEVS:Monitors. There are no
P96 specific monitor drivers needed beyond this program. Blitter
emulation is immediate.

While the functionality of this program is best described as "a video
driver for the native chipset for P96", it is actually quite
primitive.  All it does is to set the environment variable
"Picasso96/DisableAmigaBlitter" to "Yes", and load the "rtg.library",
which is the core library of P96. This is sufficient to enable the CPU
replacement functionalities. The rtg.library does not require a
graphics card for this. As such, the same functionality can also be
realized manually, i.e. by loading the rtg.library by some other
means, and configuring environment variables appropriately.

To use this you will need a newer version of the P96 software then the old Aminet version. To buy the new one you will need to register on iComp GmbH`s webpage first. Then you can choose to buy it for the price you feel it is worth, minimum price is 8 euros.

News / Amiga AGA port of Exult
« on: January 12, 2019, 01:50:48 PM »
NovaCoder has ported Exult over to AGA Amigas.

Amiga 68k port of Exult.

As computers evolve, we risk losing classic games from the not-so-distant past.
One of these, Ultima 7, an RPG from the early 1990's, still has a huge
following, and many consider it to be one of the most immersive games ever
produced. Exult is a project to recreate Ultima 7 for modern operating systems,
using the game's original plot, data, and graphics files.

1) An AGA Amiga with a fast 68060 processor
2) AHI installed (v4.18 recommended)
3) 3.1 ROMS (3.0 ROMS may cause it to run slowly)
4) A copy of the PC game data files

 * AGA SDL port
 * MIDI support
 * AHI Sound support
 * OGG compressed audio support

News / Trap Runner Final Release
« on: December 31, 2018, 06:38:52 PM »
Night Owl Design and Retroguru have released a final of their Amiga OCS platform game Trap Runner.

From the authors:

Happy new year from Night Owl Design and Retroguru!

The year 2018 is going to end and 2019 is in front of our door. The perfect chance to aim for the last Amiga OCS release of 2018. You may remember the Night Owl Design (Frank Wille and Gerrit Wille) and Retroguru game 'Trap Runner' which we released as unfinished party version at Function 2018 in Budapest, Hungary. While time has passed we were not lazy and bring you this fancy update, which will be most likely the final version.

Trap Runner v1.0 (31 Dec 2018)
- Fixed a memory leak when loading new maps.
- Handle spurious level 7 interrupts, which happen on some boards.
- Graphics retouched by Jonathan Dodd.
- Enabled desert world water animations.
- Fixed coin animation in level 18.
- Fixed the return path in level 22.
- Getting stuck in level 24 fixed, when missing the white pill.
- Optimized fireball usage in castle world.
- Red floor in the Pacman level is deadly now.
- Fixed loss of last continue-level after running the introduction.
- Stars gauge didn't animate and reset, when collecting multiple stars at once, while only a single star was required for extra life.

If you are more the type of person who wants to have a physical release, we want to make you happy too. Trap Runner will be published by APC & TCP Germany! Please get in touch with andreas(at) He will mail you when the game is out as boxed release along with tiny goodies!

The free .adf is in no way crippled or limited, but if you love to support us, please consider buying the physical.

We also love feedback, news coverage, etc... give us motivation and a reason to continue our Amiga activities!
